Kitchen remodel creates smiles in Sunland, California

A practical & usable oak and green granite kitchen with all the bells and whistles

Above Left: In order to bring more light and space into this existing Kitchen we removed the old Laundry Room and enclosed the existing Front Porch. We also added a skylight and a bay window at the Kitchen sink area. The new custom soffits and double levels of crown molding add craftsman detail to the new ceiling. The custom full height cabinets on the left that lead to the Breakfast Room house the built-in stainless steel refrigerator and the chef’s pantry. The red oak cabinets all have custom raised panel ends. The right side full height cabinet holds the built-in microwave.

Above Right: The new Breakfast Room was constructed with three new windows and an exterior door to add lots of natural light for the morning meals. We recessed the ceiling and accented it with crown and dental moldings. For evening entertainment we installed an oak paddle fan with light kit. The angled base and wall cabinets with granite countertops and glass doors add a geometric charm. We added paint grade wood jambs, sills, casing and aprons to the vinyl windows for an economical custom installation.

Bay window and unique trapezoidal skylight provide plenty of daylight

Above Left: This new combination of a new skylight with trapezoid shaped shaft and new bay window floods daylight into the Kitchen sink area. The new green granite countertops expand right into the deck of the bay window to create the extension of space. The new stainless steel sink has been under mounted for ease of cleaning. We cut-in a second window for additional daylight. Soffit and under cabinet lighting was added for evening entertainment. Ceramic tile was installed on the diagonal to the backsplash for additional color and texture.

Above Right: The Viking range has a landing space on each side and is flanked by the double oven cabinet on the right side and the chef’s pantry on the left. The upper doors on the Pantry cabinet were custom designed to line up with the wall cabinet doors. Inside the Pantry all the shelves roll-out. The countertop on each side of the range is covered in green granite with ceramic tile backsplash set on the diagonal. Behind the range is a custom layout of a flower bouquet. Behind the base cabinet doors are roll-out trays for the storage of pots and pans. You need great ventilation over a commercial range because of the Btu’s generated by the burners. The Viking stainless steel hood gets the job done with dual blowers and custom lighting over the range.
