Kitchen, Bathroom & Laundry Room Remake in Silver Lake, CA

The above bathroom project is located in the Silver Lake area in LA County. We installed a new tub and shower under the existing windows which we replaced with moisture-resistant vinyl. We installed new ceramic tile around the tub/shower up to the ceiling. The decorative ceramic tile liner goes through the tub/shower and aligns with the tile wainscote and the tile backsplash on the pullman cabinet. We always like to install a grab bar in the tub/shower for safety. The shower head is adjustable and can also be used as a hand-held shower wand. The tub/shower is enclosed by a frameless tempered glass enclosure with swinging doors.

The framless glass almost disappears, making the room feel larger. There is an existing storage cabinet on the opposing wall to the pullman that we installed new face frame cabinetry with custom beveled mirrors in the new cabinet doors. The pullman cabinet and the raised linen cabinet give some privacy to the toilet area. They are topped with river rock granite. The floor is ceramic tile set on the diagonal. Over the pullman is a large custom beveled mirror with wood casing to match the door moldings. A big mirror is a good way to make a narrow bathroom seem more spacious.

The bathroom above is located in the basement. We installed a new shower with another shower wand, ceramic tile to the ceiling and another frameless glass enclosure. This was a very small space so have a frameless enclosure really helps give more space. We stained the existing concrete slab to give a fresh look.

The Laundry Room above is also located in the basement. We stained the existing concrete slab floor, installed new cabinetry with new granite tops and backsplash, installed a new sink under the existing window and a new cooktop and hood. This Laundry room can also work as a Kitchen if the homeowner wants to rent out the basement in the future.

This is the new Kitchen. The cabinets are antique white with traditional square raised panel doors and custom end panels. The countertops are river rock granite and the backsplash is ceramic tile with a glass tile liner. There are no electrical outlets in the backsplash to interrupt the finish of the glass liner, so we installed power strips under the cabinets. Also under the cabinets are florescent fixtures to light up the countertops. We saved the existing cabinet between the windows and installed a new face frame cabinet with mirror doors, because the homeowner was used to seeing what is going on behind her.

We installed a ceramic tile floor on the diagonal to make this small Kitchen feel bigger. The appliances are all made by Kitchen Aid with stainless steel finish. The microwave has convection cooking and the bottom oven has a water line installed so that foods can be steamed. The dishwasher has two drawers for small or large clean ups. The refrigerator has two French-style doors with the freezer in the bottom drawer.
